Description
Description
Written by Yvette Manns to help students understand the FLOSS Rule.
The letters F, L, S and Z are excited to build new words! After they grow weary of building CVC words, they go an adventure that teaches them about the FLOSS Rule. With the help of a special companion, they learn how to double their letters at the end of one syllable words with a short vowel.
This phonics tale is a great teaching aid for elementary students and literacy lovers, alike!
This is best used with students who've learned CVC words with short vowels and are being introduced to the FLOSS rule. This can be used before, during, or after your literacy lessons, or as a read-aloud before explaining the concept of the doubling letters F, L, S or Z at the end of one syllable words with a short vowel.
Our Mission
Our goal at Phonics Read-Alouds is to support students and teachers to engage with phonics strategies through modeling fluent oral language, listening comprehension, reinforcing decoding skills and lovable characters.
I love these books and so have my students. My students remember the story and apply the lessons to their everyday work. I absolutely love these.
My students LOVED this book!
Sadly the back cover of the book somehow was folded over and bent during shipping!
I just read this book to students today. It lead to a fruitful discussion about the rule. Given the plethora of examples with the text, it was easy for my students to tell/write words that used the FLOSS rule. What a talented author!
