Meet the Author

Committed to Literacy Excellence and Excitement!

Hello and welcome! I'm Yvette Manns, the author behind the Phonics Read-Alouds series, where fun, engaging stories come to life while helping children develop essential literacy skills.

My work in literacy education has spanned from classroom teacher, to instructional coach, to curriculum developer to literacy consultant. Along the way, I've trained as a dyslexia practitioner and language and literacy specialist. Now, I get to spend my days writing fun books reinforcing decoding strategies and helping learners get engaged with phonics concepts.

My journey began with a simple idea: to create books that not only make learning to read an exciting adventure but also lay the foundation for a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.

I’ve had the honor of seeing my books reach over 60,000 classrooms around the world, helping young learners master phonics in a way that’s playful, interactive, and enjoyable. There's nothing more rewarding than hearing from teachers, parents, and children about how my stories are making a difference in classrooms and homes alike.

In addition to writing, I'm also the proud founder of National Schwa Day, a special celebration dedicated to one of the most intriguing sounds in the English language – the "schwa." Through this fun day, I aim to bring awareness to phonetic patterns, making language learning an exciting and memorable experience for everyone.

When I’m not writing, speaking at conferences or working on new projects, you can find me spending time with my family, reading with my son, and brainstorming new ways to make learning accessible and enjoyable for all children.

Thank you for visiting my site! I’m thrilled to be part of your literacy journey and can’t wait for you to explore all the adventures waiting inside the pages of my books.

With love and gratitude,

- Yvette & The Crew at Phonics Read-Alouds
